The Antoinette (Toni) Stevens Awards

It is with regret that we announce the passing of Bill Stevens on January 6, 2005.
He was a good friend and true benefactor of our Society. He will be greatly missed by his many friends at SCA.
Bill kindly provided for the Antoinette (Toni) Stevens Awards to continue for a number of years.
This generosity will be a constant reminder of a man whom we can never forget.

Antoinette (Toni) Stevens, SCA: July 26, 1921 - July 30, 1998

The Tired Sister by Toni Stevens Toni Stevens, a member of SCA since 1988 was an acrylic painter whose brightly coloured paintings are full of energy and joie de vivre, reflecting her personality.

In 1999, to celebrate Toni’s life as an artist, the Antoinette (Toni) Stevens Program of awards was created by Bill Stevens, Toni’s husband. The bequest greatly assists the SCA in moving towards the realization of its objectives and SCA is most appreciative.

The Society is honoured to be the steward for this significant award and in this regard looks forward to a long and successful partnership with the Stevens family.

  1. The Best Painting in the Show - $1000 accompanied by a SCA bronze medal and certificate
  2. The Best Painting in Acrylic in the Show - $500

The bequest also provides $250 each year (matched by an equal amount from SCA) for needy art students. The 2003 recipient was the Dufferin Mall Youth Services in Toronto specifically to fund the "make your own T-shirt" project, that also includes art and poetry on canvas. This is a design competition for young people.
