I have always loved painting since I was very young. Art allows me the freedom to express myself. I have had the benefit of art instruction from many well regarded artists and have exhibited my paintings with Galleries in the Greater Toronto Area. I am a Signature Member of the Toronto Watercolour Society, (Bronze Level of Distinction), and an Elected Member of the Colour and Form Society. I paint weekly with the Mississauga Watercolour Society at Visual Arts Mississauga.

I have participated in many art shows, both juried and non-juried, and have won awards, including second place in a juried art show for the World Exposition in Kariya, Aichi, Japan. I enjoy painting a variety of subjects. I use Watercolour. gouache and ink, mixed media and acrylics to achieve a fresh and spontaneous quality to my work. Recently, I have been experimenting with colour and form to express my feelings about ideas. Many of my paintings are in private collections in Canada. I am honoured and delighted to become an Elected Member of this prestigious organization, the Society of Canadian Artists.

Jennifer Caie, SCA

Dryden, ON

Explorer and artist Jennifer Caie is an acrylic painter of the Canadian Shield’s remote and wild places, and other almost untouched places in Canada. Her daily walk outdoors is her constant inspiration. Caie spends a portion of every day in her NW Ontario studio, preserving the natural landscapes that have captured her attention on canvas.

Sue Contini, SCA

Calgary, AB

Sue is a contemporary landscape painter whose mission is to capture fleeting effects of light and atmosphere from her lived experience of the Canadian landscape

Sue Contini, SCA - "Turning - Elbow Valley"

Luc Fortier, SCA

Montreal, QC

My work is all about colors and contrasts, their mutual interference, harmony and dissonance. As the image slowly develops, colors and contrasts are adjusted to converge towards the final image. In this process, evocation and emotion are more important than exact reproduction. My favorite subjects are portraits and the human figure where I try to render an image with emotional expression.

Luc Fortier, SCA - "Semeni"

Juve Furtado, SCA

Vernon, BC

I have always been drawn to the beauty of nature’s seasonal landscapes, wildlife and rustic scenes. These are the images that I love to capture and enjoy painting. My painting style is contemporary realism although I do enjoy taking the liberty to exaggerate both light and colour.

My preferred medium is watercolour, which I love for its transparency, spontaneity and glazing qualities. I use both direct and indirect approaches to painting. One is loose, involving watercolour pouring while the other is controlled and deliberate brushwork. Both these techniques allow me to create the many wonderful variations of atmospheric light, color and texture that I find in nature. My hope is always that my art will resonate with the viewer in a meaningful way.

Juve Furtado, SCA - "Lynn Valley II"

My world is sculpting stone.

My creativity the expression of my soul.

My passion is teaching this form of art.

Eugene Jankowski, SCA - "Maternity"

Chippie Kennedy, SCA

Lunenburg, NS

After years of fashion design, my fascination with texture, drape, form and movement left me wanting to deepen my understanding of what was beneath the clothing I was creating. I realized that I no longer wanted to dress the form but to sculpt it, to understand the gravity and physical beauty of the human form in its natural state. With each piece I want to expose the raw and palpable nature of the body and its form in the hope that my work will connect with the viewer at a visceral level.

Chippie Kennedy, SCA - "Niobe"

Renata Kerr, SCA

Victoria, BC

I am an intuitive abstract painter, living and working on the West Coast of BC, Canada. The idea of ‘connection’ is a recurring theme in my work. The interconnection of energy binds all of humanity together – literally, spiritually and metaphysically. The search for belonging, and the effort to understand ourselves in relation to everything around us and to the universe itself, is at the heart of my paintings.

Renata Kerr, SCA - "Unfolding"

Gabriel Lavoie, SCA

Terrebonne, QC

There may be many ways to achieve one goal or several techniques to create a work, but the intention to make it a positive and inspiring result remains for me the fundamental essence.

Gabriel Lavoie, SCA - "The Quest"

Lio Lo, SCA

Jordan Falls, NS

My main goal in painting is to express whatever grabs me and touches me from the first impression. The unspoiled beauty of the coastlines and rural life of Nova Scotia are what inspired me daily. My paintings are the reflections of what surrounded me.

Lio Lo, SCA - "Parade of Balloons"

Wesley Lowe, SCA

Bridgewater, NS

My name is Wesley Lowe, I enjoy painting historical subjects, much of this work would be considered Marine in nature. I try to place myself back in time and imagine situations that would make for an interesting and appealing painting. I mostly use oil paint on canvas or panel, but I do enjoy working in watercolour. In the past my career was an illustrator, I worked mostly for Publishers, magazines and advertising agencies in Canada and New York city.
