The Society of Canadian Artists welcomes applications from all professional artists – from traditional painting and drawing, to those who work in new digital media, as well as artists working in 3 dimensional materials.
The SCA offers two levels of membership:
Elected Member which is geared to professional artists who have gone through the adjudication process
Associate Member includes emerging artists who have not undergone adjudication as well as art supporters and aficionados.
PLEASE NOTE: As we are a national society, alll applicants must be Canadian citizens or a Permanent resident. This means you are either:
1) A Canadian born citizen living in Canada, or are temporarily or permanently living outside of Canada. 2) Born outside of Canada but have become a Permanent Resident and currently reside in Canada.
Benefits of Membership
SCA Associate members are eligible for participation in two annual shows; the Open International Online Exhibition (spring), and the Elected and Associates’ Exhibition (summer).
SCA Elected members may enter the third annual show, our Elected Members’ Exhibition (fall),
Members are eligible for up to $15,000 in annual awards, including the prestigious $5000 Mary Pratt Crystal Bowl award.
Members may enjoy promotion through our online galleries and Elected Members’ profiles.
Elected members are permitted to use the prestigious “SCA” designation in their signature and CV.
All members are Invitation to our Annual General Meeting, holiday party and other SCA events.
All members are welcome to volunteer for jury duties, board positions, and to participate in regional SCA events!

Our membership year runs from May 1 to April 30
Associate Member
Associate membership is open throughout the year. Artists considering undergoing the adjudication process for Elected membership are encouraged to join as an Associate member until the next jury date. Select the button below to find out more about Associate membership and register.
There are two annual calls for Elected membership, every spring and fall. As well, there is an alternate path for Associate’s or the general public who have been successfully juried into three SCA exhibitions within a five year period.
